Celebrate your inner cowboy with cowboy stories and sing-a-longs.  For children of all ages.

A crowd of more than 1,500 residents took advantage of expanded space, services and amenities by attending the grand opening of the new Haltom City Library on Saturday, September 6th. At more than 29,000 square feet, the new facility, located at 4809 Haltom Road, is almost double the size of the old library on Friendly Lane.

It features a drive-through book return and pickup, a meeting room with an adjoining kitchen, study rooms, a coffee counter, business center and express checkout. An expanded children's area features an imagination station puppet stage. The building is situated above Spring Creek, and the reading area, with its floor-to-ceiling windows, offers a picturesque view.

The finished product is the culmination of a process that began in 2001 when the citizens voted to issue bonds to pay for library construction. The architect for the project was F & S Partners of Dallas. Alshall Construction served as the general contractor.

You can also take a photo tour of the new Library here.

The Friends of the Haltom City Public Library would like to thank all the citizens who contributed to our fundraising efforts. Also we wish to thank the following area businesses for graciously allowing us to place donation jars in their establishment. The jars earned almost $1,000.

Residents and businesses that would like to help raise money for the new Haltom City Public Library, now under construction, may do so in a personal way. The city is working with the Paper Retriever Program and is collecting paper for recycling. Bins for collecting the paper are yellow and green and are located at the library, Fire Station #3 (the water tower) and at the senior center. Acceptable items include newspapers, magazines, shopping catalogs, office and school paper, mail and phone books. Unacceptable items include tissue, food wrap and corrugated cardboard. Funds will be used to purchase furniture for the children’s area at the new facility.
