"Frisbee" golf enthusiasts can now find a unique amenity to Haltom City’s North Park (located at Denton Highway and NE Loop 820). A nine-hole disc
golf course has recently been installed at the park with the grand opening scheduled for this Saturday, June 2nd at 10AM.
Disc golf is an inexpensive way for friends and family alike to participate in a competitive, casual sport whose popularity has soared in recent years. Disc golf follows the same concept as traditional golf but is instead played with a disc, which is strategically thrown into baskets located randomly throughout the course.
Haltom City resident Brandon Melton first presented the idea for the course to the Haltom City Parks & Recreation Board. Once he was able to secure sponsorships he installed the coarse himself. Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday Melton will avail himself to attendees by conducting a brief clinic about the game of disc golf.
Recreation Supervisor Christi Pruitt said “the recreation department is excited about bringing this unique sport to Haltom City”.
For information about the grand opening, please call the Recreation Department at 817 831-6464.
