The Professional Standards Section is supervised by a Sergeant who reports directly to the Assistant Chief. This section has one detective who coordinates in-service and other mandatory training for all Police Department personnel, works with Human Resources to recruit new Department employees and conducts background investigations. The Sergeant performs the Internal Affairs function, aggressively investigating allegations of employee misconduct in order to safeguard the reputation of the Department and maintain the public trust.
