The Communications Division is under the supervision of a Sergeant who reports to the Support Operations Lieutenant. There are twelve dispatchers who receive and dispatch calls 24 hours a day for Police and Fire emergency services in Haltom City, as well as calls for Animal Services when the shelter is closed. They also enter and confirm warrants into the state and national communication networks. Dispatchers undergo extensive training to prepare them for high stress and crisis intervention situations and must be certified by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
