Life Insurance
The City pays for an amount equal to one times your annual salary, capped at $75,000 for life insurance. Additionally, TMRS provides for death benefits (life insurance) in an amount equal to one times your annual salary. Voluntary life insurance is available to purchase for the employee and eligible dependents at a competitive rate.

Long-Term Disability
In order to protect an employee in the event of a catastrophic illness or injury, the City provides long-term disability coverage for full-time employees. Long-term disability provides up to 60% of an employee’s regular salary after a 90-day elimination period.

Section 125 Cafeteria Plan
Employees are able to put aside pre-tax dollars to use for unreimbursed medical expenses and dependent care costs. The plan also provides for pre-taxing of certain insurance premiums. Participation in this benefit is optional and is provided at no cost to the employee.

Voluntary Insurance
The City offers various supplemental insurance products to employees through payroll deductions: accident, short-term disability, and cancer insurance. These products are provided by Colonial Life and Accident.

Longevity Pay
Employees are paid longevity benefits based upon length of service with the City. Employees earn $72 per year of completed service. This benefit is paid bi-weekly.
